Understanding Fats
Even though we all need fat in our diet, eating too much makes people more likely to become overweight. Too much saturated fat can also raise cholesterol, which inevitably increases the risk of heart disease. This is why it's important to cut down on the amount of fat we eat, and choose foods that contain unsaturated fat. Being overweight also raises the risk of other serious health problems, such as type 2 Diabetes and high blood pressure.
But not all fat is bad. Some fat is necessary in our diet as it helps the body absorb certain nutrients. Fat is also an energy source and provides essential fatty acids that the body is unable to make itself.
Types of fat
There are two main types of fat found in food - saturated and unsaturated. Saturated and unsaturated fat do contain the same amount of calories. But as part of a healthy diet, attempt to cut down on foods high in saturated fat, and eat foods that are rich in unsaturated fat.
Saturated fat
Eating a diet high in saturated fat can cause the cholesterol levels in your blood to build up. Raised cholesterol increases your risk of heart disease. This is why, as well as cutting down on the total amount of fat you eat, it's important to cut down on saturated fat.
Foods high in saturated fat include:
• Fatty cuts of meat and meat products, including sausages and pies
• Cream, soured cream and ice cream
• Butter, ghee and lard
• Cheese, especially hard cheese
• Biscuits, cakes and pastries
• Savoury snacks and chocolate confectionery
Unsaturated fat
Eating unsaturated fat instead of saturated fat can help 'lower' blood cholesterol.
Unsaturated fat is found in:
• Oily fish such as salmon, fresh tuna and mackerel
• Avocados
• Sunflower and olive oils
• Nuts and seeds
Trans fats
Trans fats are located naturally in low levels in some foods including those from animals like meat and dairy products. Trans fats can also raise cholesterol levels in the blood just like saturated fats. This is why it's recommended trans fats should make up no more than 2% of our calorie intake. Adults should have no more than about 5g a day.
Eat less fat
Try these tips to help you cut the total amount of fat in your diet:
• When buying fresh meat, ask your butcher for lean cuts of meat
• When shopping, compare food labels so you can pick foods lower in fat.
• Trim visible fat and take skin off meat before cooking. Use the grill instead of the frying pan
• Grill, bake, poach or steam food rather than frying or roasting. This way you will not need to add any
• extra fat.
• Choose lower-fat dairy products
• Measure oil with tablespoons rather than pouring it straight from a container
• Add more vegetables or beans into casseroles, stews and curries, and a bit less meat

How does Biobind work?
Nopal cactus has been used for millennia to suppress appetite for food and water and to increase energy by the San people, native to the Kalahari Desert. They cut the spines off the plant and eat the inner portion and drink the white latex.
Nopal has been shown to bind up to 27.4% of fat from food. This creates a fat-fibre complex too large to be absorbed by the small intestine and is passed out of the body naturally.
In addition, BioBIND also helps to reduce food cravings. The soluble fibres in BioBIND engorge in water and trap food, thus slowing down digestion and reducing blood sugar spiking. So as a result, the desire to eat is dramatically reduced and replaced by a feeling of fullness.
Therefore, BioBIND works in three ways:
1. Reduces amount of fat absorbed from your diet
2. Helps to suppress appetite
3. Helps decrease food cravings
What other things can I do to lose weight?
To lose weight you need to cut down the amount of calories you consume and move more. Try incorporating more exercise into your daily life like getting off the bus a stop earlier and walking the rest of the way, taking the stairs, strolling across the office to speak to colleagues rather than emailing. A pedometer is a great way of adding up the number of steps you make in a day and can really help with motivation. Experts say we should be walking about 10,000 steps a day to improve heart health and reduce body fat, so get moving!

Why take Biobind?
Collectively, all the ingredients within BioBIND work synergistically together to:
- • Support effective weight loss
- • Reduce fat absorption
- • Help suppress appetite
- • Decrease food cravings
And this is how...
Nopal Cactus contains both soluble and insoluble dietary fibres. The insoluble dietary fibre in Nopal absorbs water & toxins and slowly and gently accelerates food through the digestive track, thus contributing to regular bowel movements.
These high levels of soluble and insoluble fibres contained within Nopal Cactus helps prevent the rapid absorption of simple carbohydrates such as sugars into the blood stream during the digestion stage of a meal. Ingesting Nopal prior to, or during a meal, results in lowering the Glycaemic Index of any meal and allows for a more stable blood sugar metabolism throughout the day. It keeps hunger at bay!
The fibre content in Nopal, is sufficient to effectively promote satiety when taken before a meal, and thus reduces hunger and calorie consumption.
Psyllium Husk contains a fibre that reduces appetite, improves digestion and cleanses the system, making it an excellent choice for dieting the healthy way. Psyllium can provide the fibre that is missing in low carbohydrate diets.
Chitosan has been shown to reduce fats, help lower bad cholesterol, raise good cholesterol, and naturally control the appetite. It is a fibre that comes from shellfish and a fat blocker. When taken, chitosan absorbs fat molecules in the body therefore it reduces the fat intake by up to 30%, while supplying 20 to 30 grams of dietary fibre to your body. This dietary fibre intake helps suppress the appetite and any food cravings by giving you the feeling of being full.
